Informal Assignment #5

       In china, like other Asian country, students must wear school uniform during their daytime. For my own experience, in my high school---which is one in my hometown, we have to abide by school rules. We have two kinds of school uniform, one is for summer, and one is for winter. We need wear them all day form Monday until Friday. For the haircut in the school rules has no curly hair, no color hair, and for all boys, they cannot make their hair grow pass under ear; for all girls, they have to wear their hair in ponytail during the daytime.
          One thing that I remembered is in China, when we growing up a teenager, in the school ceremony, almost of every student to be a “red scarf" teenager, which means is they are able to be a good student in their high school, each one get their own "red scarf" from this ceremony. So the teacher asks us to wear "red scarf" every day when we go to high school. I think it is Chinese high school fashion. However, I always am a good and quiet student during that. In my teenager, there has one thing changed me to be more “fashion crime".
         One day, I went to school without wearing "red scarf" because I got up late and go to school in harry, so I totally forgot. Every day in the morning time, there are some teachers stand in front of the school door to check everyone's clothes. They saw I did not wearing my "red scarf" and they were prohibit me enter to school door. I was confused about that and argue with one of teachers, whatever what I said, how I explain why I forgot to wear "red scarf", they still do not let me enter. At end of that situation, I missed my classes and I was go to home finally and absent whole day classes. I was so sad about that day in my memory. I felt so embarrassed for arguing with teacher in front of the school door.
            I was changed my mind after this event. I understand for Chinese high school situation, teachers want everybody to be same such as wear same school uniform, wear "red scarf" for everyone, and they do not want students to compete to compare unrealistically each other and pay much attention to consider what should their wear clothes every day, so we must wear same clothes with other classmates. But, I was disagree with that, when we do like this, wear same clothes, it really restrain everyone’s own thinking and own fashion styles. Everyone like a study machine, and do not know everything without study, everyone study hard only for graduate exam. They lose their own style in life.
            For society class, when student wear school uniform, society knows they are student, and they cannot go to some pub, gaming store. And they want them to be unified. For gender class, wearing uniforms should be vague boys and girls, when they wear same uniform, they actually cannot distinguish everyone clearly. However, wearing uniform has many disadvantages, for example:  most of uniform has bad fashion with bad quality, some of them is very think clad to wear when winter time, student always feel cold to wear school uniform.  And everybody wear same clothes, and they lose their own innovative. From my experience that I mention, I don’t see how wearing "red scarf" is so much more important than me missing all classes? It not a fair balance to account knowledge with clothes.
    Finally, in Chinese country, even though students dislike their school uniform, they still need wear to school every day, and observe rules to be a “good student".

Informal Assignment #4

            Last week in class I looked some video from the website link, at begining of I looked at them, I am a little bit confused about what are they doing, for example, in Leslie Hall video, a fat woman wear skin tight, then she is dancing, singing, and do some funny poses. I can not understand what is she doing, and what information she want to show us? After class discuss, I understand better. Today, I look at these video again, and find some interesting point. In the video, she wear color skin tight, and smile, and singing, looks very happy. When I see this video, I feel happy and make my mind good. After I saw some video in her blog, I think in her reason why she post these kind of video to show us is she want to make everbody happy. She use herslf to recreation everyone. I look at the comment under her blog, most of people said thanks to her because she make them feel funny and relax. Though this, I found in this society, everyone has pressure and do not know where can release stress, maybe this video give them a "door" to get happy. After people see this, just feel this fat woman is strange, and feel why she do like this, then they will feel funny and stressless with this video.
          Next video which I look is Ill Doctrine blog. In his blog, most every video show his personal talking show, he talk about his own opinion about some phenomenon in our society. For example, the first one I looked is called "Rev. Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. on Extemism", in this video, he think for some great people also has extremism, with his perspective on the different kinds of extremism, and how sometimes extremism is no less righteous than moderation. And for other one which I look is called "Why I'm Afriad of Christine O'Donnell" creat by Jay Smooth. in this video, he said that he does not want to vote someone who like he, because always in the speech, famous people say he/she like you and will do something for you, but the artist said he does not like this and feel it awared. He think he does not look like a good person and if someone like he, he thinks that strange. I choose two of this video, and after I finsh look them, I feel he has strong personal opinion and he is funny person. Because in his video, I feel understand clear and easy to fo llow his idea. I laugh many time when I am watching his video. I also can learn some Amercia culture and personal idea from his videos. I think from his video, he want to show other people what is his thinking, his idea, and want to get everyone's attract.
             The last one I want to discuss is Kenneth Tin Kin Hung’s blog called" 60X1. com”, I look at one video here called “ In God We Trust”, In this video, just has many interesting power point in here, and no any talking voice here, those pictures are colorful and complex mix together. “In G.O.D. We Trust” remixes the political and economical hardships Barrack Obama has to overcome within various religious contexts.And artist believe their president can overcome and change everything, and he as a leader to this country become better. In this video, I learn some America political, and know what is the artist’s idea.
     Though these blog, I saw many artist’s opinion here, and know why they post these video to blog and what they want to show.

                   
    

Informal Assignment #3

           The Valley Fair Mall that I went to last class is a big shopping mall in san jose area. Even though I went to there many times, it is my first time to observation carefully. The report describe how san jose change in recent years. It talk about history, geographic,age, education, population facts, and housing rentals, etc. I can tell how big change they are and learn some detail clear. It has close connection with Vally Fair Mall possibilities. As we know, Vally Fair Mall structure want to give service to white and upper class people, so in first floor, I can see they put marble on floor in order to make customer feel they are respected and valued. Also, in first floor, there are many expensive store in there such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, apple store, etc. It face to high class people and want them shopping here. I also see some restaurant in this floor. I did not go there before, but I know they are expensive. It might be give you good service and build for white people, because it primary sell steak, pizza, coffee, most of them are America food.
           On the second floor, the floor boarding chaged to carpet, it looks more casual. I see many cheap store in here, for example: Forever 21, Disney store, Victoria's secret...compare with famous brand,luxury stuff, their mian customer group is young people and middle class people. I also feel this viewpoint when I in food court, more fast food and cheap food in here, they want use cheap price to attract more middle class people. The reason why I said this mall want to face to white women is through the map direction, I can see in women's part, there are a lot of store service for women clothes, women stuff like bebe, Guess, make-up store...for man, only a few part to tell customer where can get men's stuff such as Gamestop, sports...
          However, until now, I can see some people defiance builder's opinion. I see many Asian, Mexico people in there, and especially in Louis Vuitton store, the important consumption group is Asian. Some Asian people in this store want to buy expensive bags. More and more young people, teenagers shopping here. Not only for upper class, but also for middle class. A lot of people go shopping in Valley Fair Mall. Sometimes, I also can see few old people do window shopping, they are looks like go a walk, and feel happy.
        Looking at report which in this blog, I find something that insterest me, san jose is the third bigger city in the United States, most people who live here are white people, I heard from news, san jose is valaubleness area in California. The house cost and life cost are expensive than other place. For example, I know the house rent more expensive here. So in my opinion, here is the reason why Vally Fair Mall build for white and upper class people at
preliminary stage. From the report age part, I can see mid age people have strong consuming ability for shopping.
       From this research, depend on Vally Fair Mall, I have some suggestion for build structure. First, build more store for Asian people. They becoming more and more important consuming ability in san jose. Next, build some stores for men, they are also have ability to shopping. For child part, here can build a child square in shopping mall to all children. When the mother and father bring their children go there, they have time and chance go shopping for themself.
       In summary, Valley Fair Mall is a good shopping place and I learn much from this place.

Informal Writing Assignments #2

              Last week, I saw the movie named "Matrix" in my creative minds class. This is my first time to see this interesting movie. I was deep attracted by some details, especially at beginning of the movie. When the hero Neo find he is different from other people, and always have some stranges want to find him and give him some troubles. He is confused, and he do not know what happened and what he should to do. However, the boss find he and help he, he want to tell him tures, but he need Neo choose what he want to belive, so he give him two pills--red one and blue one. If he choose red one, he will going to dream world and he would find everything will be different, he also can find the answers about himself. In the other hand, blue one will take him to real world and eveything would not be changed and he also can believe evetything what he believed before. When the movie showing here, I feel nervous and also expected what Neo would make he own choise. Facing to me, I also asked this question to myself, which one I should choose? Red one? Or blue one? It is really difficult to make choise.            After lone time thinking, I think I will choose bule one. For me, I am not brave and I am not sure if I can face on something if I did not know. I do not want I am trying to be a hero to save this world. This is a luge project to me. I am not a hero and I do not want to be a hero. As I saw, in movie, Neo has some ability and he do many actions to fighting with his enemy. But I am just a human, and I belive the world what I am living, and I also belive I am as same as other people, we are normal and do not have some special ability. I do normal behaviour every day such as I need eat, I need go to school, I need sleep, I need friends. Nothing different with others. I can not thinking about if this world is not a real world, I do not know what should I do, what how can I believe it. If the food we eat, is not a real food, just some imagines in our mind. If except our real world, we have another world, it is so strange. Human would not be human, we are aliving in other project. It sounds terrible. Even though I believe some people have super power, I believe ET and UFO is exist, I can not accept this world is not exist and we are no belief. But I know people want control future and predict what will happened.
        After seeing this movie, I am thinking about my own life. I alwasy meet some choise need I choose. When it happened, I often feel difficulf and confused what I should to choose. For example, sometimes, I need choose should I go back to China, or I need stay America, sometimes, I also need choose Which university I should go, What kinds of food I want to eat, does I need go home to play computer, or I need go to play with my friends...I think every person has problem when they need decide something. I always make my decision depend on my first feeling. Sometimes, it is good dicision, but sometimes, it bring me more trouble.
       In my opinion, we need belive what we belong to and what world we are exist. We also need to explore  better future.

Informal Writing Assignments #1

             The exmaine life  I took is Philosopher Peter singer's video. At begining of the showing, he metions that "what should you be spending monery on?" That's an interestion question.  In this video, he gives us a example of a drowning child without his/her partens. And you have a nice shoes, if we are going to save this drowning child, we will broke this shoes.The philosopher ask us do we will save this child? My answer is: absolutly yes. Even though I will lost my shoes, but I can save one person's life. I thought almost people will agree with me and also do this way, because, facing a person's life exist, we would not care about shoes, we will think them is much important than material. we will care about how we can affect someone's life. However, after this, Peter singer give me another one interesting opinion, if we can save this child, why people do not  donate money to them? If we don't buy too many clothes and shoes, and we exchange to money give to poor people, it also save their's life. Why people do not do this way? I was thinking about this point for long time. Sometimes we perfer to give people help when they really need it. But we do not to give them help on our daily life.
           As same as the shoes example, there are many examples which I know. Yesterday, I saw a news on my friend's facebook. It said some poor child need clothes and stationery, these people need our help and want our to donate them. I feel so sad for these kinds of news. We always help people who near ourself, but do not too much take care of farer people. One reason that I think is we really do not know what they need, and how much help they want, and we do not really know their real situation such as does they really need clothes, or need other stuffs, or maybe they need food or something else. And even though we give them helps, do they can get it. In china, like some earthquake place, people who in other place give them money, clothes, food and many. But most of the donate stuff were grafted by some local government, and poor people do not really get help from others. It is a bad situation. So some people afriad of to helping people who far away, and they do not want their donate does not give to someone else.
          At last part of video, Philosopher Peter singer said ethics does not come from religion, it come from ourself. In my opinion, even though ethics not from religion, it has a little bit relationship with religion, some people's ethices deponds on their own culture, religion, and country. They are decided by their own thinking, and make a choise to thinking about do they need help poor people, how can they help poor people. After I saw this video, I feel encouraged, I think I will make change in my life. It like I will save more money to use them to help people who really need it.

Implicit Association Test

             Tonight I took the " Fat and Thin" and "Gender" part in the Implicit Association Test. My result of "Fat and Thin", it shows "Slight automatic preference for Thin People compared to Fat People."  The first test I took made me feel so nervous, because I was worried about does the test will record the point, and after the test, I know that just for examine personal charater, just for my own opinion. The test sorce really surprised me, I was think about my real thinking is I was strong like thin people perfer fat people. Because in this society, almost people would like to lost weight and make them more thinner. And for some reason, thin people looks more healthy and beatiful. Woman always want to eat less and lost their weight in order to make them looks good and attracted. And the test shows my real heart thinking, definely. People always thinking theirself own opinion is not same as the real thinking of themself. But they only do not know it.
        
            My second test is " Gender" part, it examine me about how strong relationship between man with science, and woman with liberal arts. At the end of test, it shows me my result is " Men and science, liberal arts women and moderate contact". I feel agree with this result. In many yeas ago, I feel men should to study science, and  women should to learn liberal arts. Men study science ability  is much better than women do. They have better understanding and hands-on ability. In my steretotype, I strong think women match with liberal, and most of men should to study science. However, rencetly years, my mind is changed, especially after I went to America. In china, most nurse and teacher are women, most police and technician are men to do. It is an interesting phenomemon, if a man to apply nurse job, it looks strange. It is a little bit difference between U.S.A. and China, in Amercia, a lot of men do teaching works, and some women also do police work. And in here, some people have many skills and study double major in college.
       
          In this society, we have too much steretotype to thinking about something or someone, it depens on your own studying, gender, which book you read, which type people you met, or country, age... Everyone has own thinking of this world. We are effected by many factors. Even though we have some regular thinking about this world, we still need more flexible to treat it.

Scavenger Hunt

 In my opinion, "Scavenger Hunt" is an interesting game to me. Because I never play this kind of game before.However, at the beginning of class, I thought it might be a boring game, and I want stay at classroom, the weather at that time is so cold, I don't want to be group with some person which I did not know before. When the game was star, we are so exciting. My group member are friendly to me. We went many place to find the stuff that the paper mention. Some of them are really difficult to find. At the end, we finished the work and went back to classroom. Even though the outside is cold, we still have much fun with this game! (Question 1)

If I  have a change to do "Scavenger Hunt" again, I think I find easier way to finsh these work. I do not need speed a lot of time to go outside to find items. I only need go to computer lab and open a website, I can find everything I want in the internet. And maybe I will give more idea to my group, because I was shy to the person who I first time to meet. (Question 2)

Our group strategy for hunt is go to every palce to find the items such as parking lot, bookstore,or library. But it speed too much time for us. I thought we only have 30 minutes to do the work. And it really difficult to find each items at real palce. For example, the bookstore does not sell cock. The strategy works, but we do not have enough time. After that, we changed our strategy, we went to library, and find website to search each items. It is faster way to finish work. I asked my group:" Can we find them on interent, is that ok for this class?" My classmate said:" yes, of coure, why not, it is creative mindz class." We finsh the work finally and speed less time. (Question 3)

 During the hunt game, we met some problems such as in the parking lot, becasue it already at night time, no many cars in the parking places; in bookstore, they do not sell cokes; some items cannot be find at campus. We were think about many ideas to sovle them. (Question 4)

   Facing such problems, we were going to library and saw a lot of classmates in there. The were using computer to find items. We got same idea, and we went to webesite and find everything. For exmaples: we don't have enough time to go to by jamba juice, and we can unable to find musuum at that time. But we got them on the website. And at library, we didn't find any one is falling asleep on the desk, so one of our group memeber to act the sleeping person. When we do this, it is so funny. (Question 5)

 For my experience, the Scavenger Hunt games is special to me. This is my first time to play this game. I did not know this game before. And I feel unite in my group. When we dicuss where we should go, what we can do, it shows communion and thinking. we met each other and finsh this work well. I can open mindz to thinking the ideas, and give them my experience.  This game shows indiviuals personal thinking, but also shows work together in this society. Because of this game, I know everything can br find on interent.  (Question 6)
